A Letter from TIPS' Executive Director, Linda Tessier:
How many teens does it take to affect positive change in our community? You could say just one, however, this summer TIPS was proud to work with 52 amazing teen interns serving a group of 50 nonprofit partners. These teens proved an excellent source of public service leadership at their placements throughout the summer.
Not only was this class of interns incredibly dedicated, outgoing, resourceful, intelligent, and humble; their great attitudes and empathy in their placements allowed their nonprofits to provide them with opportunities that would normally be restricted to seasoned employees. Together, TIPS Interns contributed more than 8,400 hours of service work to their communities.
The interns’ dedication to the nonprofits mission and clients they serve, supported causes such as homelessness, education, arts, health and wellness, child development, and environmental protection in the Seattle area. Their invaluable work made an impression on all our nonprofit partners: 100% of supervisors reported their intern made an impact at the organization!
The 2017 summer program marked TIPS’ 21st year providing teens with life changing summer internship experiences and we foresee a future of continually impressive teen leaders to come. If you want to continue supporting the development of these inspiring teens, please join us at the 2017 Annual Fall Luncheon, or donate to TIPS.
Thank you for being part of the Teens in Public Service community!
