Teens in Public Service connects teenagers with paid summer internship opportunities at local nonprofits.
Our Mission
Teens In Public Service (TIPS) is dedicated to producing future leaders committed to their communities by connecting teens with life-changing opportunities and internships at nonprofit organizations.
Through our Summer Internship Program, TIPS provides paid summer internships for high school youth at local nonprofit organizations. These internships offer teens practical work experience, an understanding of ethical leadership, and a venue to put their values into action; and, our nonprofits gain additional staff during the summer months, at no cost to their organizations.
Since 1997, we have worked with more than 1,300 interns and over 250 nonprofits. altogether, TIPS interns have invested 250,000 hours (And counting!) into our greater community.
Inclusivity, Diversity, and Equity at TIPS
Teens In Public Service is committed to fostering an environment of cultural awareness, responsiveness, and humility as we explore and strengthen equity within our organization and partnerships. We recognize that our effectiveness as a nonprofit organization and employer is only fulfilled through a commitment to diversity in all its forms, equity, and inclusiveness as core values. TIPS puts these values into practice by ensuring the following:
Our intern cohort reflects the diverse communities within the Greater Puget Sound region and the populations served by TIPS nonprofit partners.
Our programming is intentional in its inclusivity and equity - from our outreach strategy to our intern hiring process to our summer programming.
We foster strong partnerships with fellow youth development organizations to increase access to TIPS internships for all eligible students, and especially students from historically marginalized communities.

“The impact the Interns have on our clients, residents, staff and peer volunteers is equal to the impact the experience has on the interns.”
